PM Hun Manet: Chinese Firms Eye AI, Electronics and Agro-Industry Investments

(Siem Reap): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that Chinese companies have expressed strong interest in investing in Cambodia's AI education and training, electrical components, and agro-industry following his recent visit to China. The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jul. 21) at a graduation ceremony for students of Southeast Asia University in Siem Reap province. Samdech Thipadei said Cambodia must adapt to the rapid advancement of AI and seize the opportunities it presents to support national development. "AI technology will become increasingly widespread. If Cambodia fails to embrace it and benefit from it today, we will fall behind," he said. He underlined that during his recent working visit to China, he met with numerous Chinese companies. He also held discussions with South Korean companies on Monday, with many investors expressing interest in Cambodia's agro-industry, electrical components manufacturing, and AI education and training. "If Cambodia did not have students and intellectuals with the necessary knowledge and skills, no one would come to invest in AI technology training," the premier said. "Likewise, investors would not be interested in agro-industry if our farmers were still ploughing fields with ox carts. We must seize these opportunities and learn from new technologies. Their interest reflects confidence in the potential of our human resources.” On the occasion, the prime minister also underscored that the growing investment interest highlighted the increasing demand for skilled workers in technology-driven industries, reinforcing the need for continued investment in education and healthcare.=FRESH NEWS
