€50,000 allocated for road repair works in Newcastle West

A TOTAL of €50,000 has been allocated for repair works to sections of the road from Dooley’s Supervalu to St Ita’s Community Hospital in Newcastle West in 2026. However, in response to Fine Gael councillor Tom Ruddle at a recent district meeting, the Council explained that this road requires full reconstruction which would include a full design that could then be implemented subject to the availability of funding. “Uisce Éireann met with the roads department in Newcastle West recently and highlighted that they propose to upgrade the watermain from Laceys Cross to the town end of Bishops Street,” Cllr Ruddle was informed.
