University of Belize takes major step toward International Accreditation
The University of Belize (UB) has reached an important milestone in its pursuit of international institutional accreditation with the official submission of its Application for Accreditation Candidacy to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
“This is a historic day for the University of Belize,” said President Dr. Vincent Palacio. “Our submission represents the culmination of years of work to strengthen our academic and administrative systems and position UB to meet internationally recognized standards of excellence. Today, we have taken a decisive step toward our vision of becoming an internationally accredited university.”
UB’s candidacy application involved strengthening its institutional effectiveness framework, faculty credentialing, the enhancement of academic and administrative policies and quality assurance throughout the institution.
President Palacio expressed appreciation to the University’s Board of Trustees, its Quality Assurance team, its Vice President of Academic Affairs, deans, faculty, professional and administrative staff, whose dedication and collaboration made the submission possible.
He also acknowledged the contributions of the University’s external reviewers, whose positive assessments and endorsements affirmed UB’s readiness to advance to this important stage.
UB now prepares itself for the beginning of the next phase of the accreditation process.
SACSCOC will now undertake a comprehensive review of the application before determining the University’s candidacy status.
