Hot weather warning for Limerick extended yet again

YET again, the ongoing hot weather warning issued for Limerick has been extended. This comes amid highs of 29 degrees throughout the week and the fear of drought and forest fires. Met Éireann issued the latest in a series of hot weather warnings for Limerick this Thursday morning, which is set to be in place until 8pm on Friday evening. A Status Yellow high temperature warning came into place at lunchtime on Friday of last week and has been in place intermittently since. Now, the weather service has extended the Status Yellow warning – which was to be in place until 6am on Friday morning – to 8pm on Friday night. Temperatures are expected to peak today at 29 degrees in Limerick, with overnight temperatures as high as 16 to 18 degrees. Friday will see highs of 28 degrees, dropping to 13 overnight. Met Éireann has warned of the possibility of forest fires and drought due to the continued hot weather, along with heat stress, uncomfortable sleeping conditions, and water safety issues due to increased use of lates, beaches, and waterways. This Status Yellow high temperature warning is the latest in a string of heat alerts from the weather service for Limerick, following warnings issued at the end of May and June when temperatures again soared to around 30 degrees.
