Govt faces motion of no-confidence over youth unemployment
Two opposition parties on Wednesday tabled a no-confidence motion in the parliament against the four-party alliance government led by conservative Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) over the failure of the government to ensure employment for the young people. Leaders of the Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland) and Liike Nyt (Movement Now) filed the interpellation asking the government to explain the reasons behind the failure, which also weakened the confidence of the youths in the future, said the Parliament in a press release. Pointing out the worsening situation of the job marker, Keskusta parliamentary party leader Antti Kurvinenheld the government responsible for the situation and asked government clarification in this regard. The opposition leaders also expressed concern about the situation of about 76,000 young people of below 30 years old, who remained unemployed in the country. The government led by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will respond to the interpellation in a plenary session within 15 days. After receiving the reply to the interpellation, the Parliament will hold a debate on the issue and proceed to a no-confidence motion against the government or a particular minister.
