Since taking over for his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was slain during the current conflict that started in late February, Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen in public, which makes the comments more noteworthy. Mojtaba’s reputation as one of the region’s most mysterious leaders stems from the lack of information about his health and public appearances. Trump’s remarks are notably different from his previous criticism of Khamenei’s rise to power.
