New mobile emergency alert system due by October
Finland will introduce a new emergency warning system later this year that will send location-based alerts directly to mobile phones without requiring users to install an application.
The new service, known as FI-Alert, is scheduled to be operational by the end of October and will work alongside the country’s existing emergency warning channels.
The Ministry of the Interior announced that it had signed an agreement with Erillisverkot Group on 28 May to develop and implement the system.
